Recently, the Pittsburg City Council approved funding for a new city-wide program that aims to promote immigration resources for residents seeking assistance.
The Digital Office for New Americans (DONA) will coordinate events related to immigration issues and partner with service providers that can help with immigration law, civil rights and more.
A total of $50,000 was allocated to the new program, which will be staffed part time, primarily by Los Medanos College interns who will perform day-to-day operations under the supervision of the city’s director of community services and senior administrative analyst.
