Pittsburg High School is looking to the future and leading the way as the first high school in California to provide technical education in autonomous and electric vehicles by partnering with Contra Costa County Transportation Authority and Local Motors.

To get the program started, Local Motors will be donating a $300,000 autonomous electric shuttle named “Olli,” as well as provide engineers who will develop the curriculum and travel to Pittsburg to mentor the students enrolled in the class.

The program will provide Pittsburg students with hands-on experience in repairing the next generation of vehicles, opening the door for future employment.
