Did you know when the shelter-in-place order first went into effect, landscaping was one of the “non-essential” tasks mentioned?
This meant the Contra Costa County health order technically did not allow for landscaping work to occur. Part-time staff, who are the City of Pittsburg’s predominant maintenance workforce, were reduced to zero hours.
Twelve public works employees that were identified as “essential” have been working in their positions throughout the shelter-in-place and county health orders, and now we are hiring seasonal maintenance aides to help beautify the city as restrictions ease.
