Holidays can be difficult for people struggling with mental health issues. Tips for staying centered:

Maintain self-care: Take time for yourself, friends and exercise. Don’t skip therapy sessions.

Avoid alcohol or drugs to feel better: Often this has the opposite effect. Overusing can often make depression worse due to how brain chemicals work.  

Stay grounded in reality: You’re doing your best. Set realistic goals for the holidays and for next year. 

Remember, you’re not alone: Stay connected with loved ones who accept you. Limit time with people who aren’t supportive during the holidays. Seek professional or church support when needed.
