Higher education institutions can create major economic value for a community by providing jobs, bringing students into the city, educating the future workforce and helping residents obtain higher paying work.
In a report on Los Medanos College (LMC), researchers found that LMC brings nearly $350 million to East Contra Costa County and nearly $470 million to Contra Costa County as a whole.
Additionally, the average graduate from LMC sees an increase of $11,500 in earnings each year, compared to employees with only a high school diploma.
