Inspiring students with Lizzo’s hit song

Los Medanos Elementary teacher Dororthy Mallari and her second grade class went viral for their rendition of Lizzo’s hit song “Truth Hurts.” The video has over a million views, was featured on “Good Morning America” and garnered a response from Lizzo, who thanked them for their support.

Each year, Ms. Mallari picks a popular song to start the day. This year she picked “Truth Hurts” and rewrote the lyrics to make them kid-friendly, with the empowering message of being a great student and friend.

The video has been described as “inspirational” and serves as a reminder to be great.
