Founded in 1839, “Rancho Los Medanos” was one of the last land grants issued before California became a state. This land, now known as Old Town Pittsburg, has seen everything from fishing and farming to coal mining and industrial development.
Beginning at the Pittsburg Historical Museum (1924), explorers embark on the Old Town Path of History. The journey is a one-mile walking loop with thirteen locations. The Original Post Office (1936), New Mecca Cafe (1914), and California Theatre (1920) are a few of the locations highlighted.
Walk through history and see how the “New York of the Pacific” became the town it is today.
