Construction of battery storage facility underway in Pittsburg

Pittsburg is the future home of Diablo Energy Storage, a 200-megawatt lithium-ion battery energy storage facility being constructed by LS Power, which, upon completion, will reliably and economically receive, store and discharge electricity, including energy produced by renewable resources.

Diablo Energy Storage will help the region and California reduce greenhouse gas emissions and more reliably operate the electric transmission and distribution grid. The project is currently under construction — and expected to be operational in 2022.
