Calpine launches $25M carbon sequestration project

by The 100 Companies

Pittsburg is set to become a center of environmental innovation with the Calpine $25 million pilot program “Project Enterprise,” a carbon sequestration project through which 95% of all carbon emissions at the Calpine Los Medanos Energy Center in Pittsburg will be captured and stored underground.

This project represents a significant step towards a greener future by reducing our carbon footprint and contributing to global sustainability efforts.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and done in partnership with ION Clean Energy, Project Enterprise will run for 18 months and may be introduced to other energy plants in the future.
